Following two singles from the album, Decker battled with label executives for greater control over her music, and the next single Boys in the Summer was an album that was more country-oriented. Decker's second album, announced as Daughter of a Gypsy and Sweet American Dreams by Mercury Records, was pulled after Mercury was disappointed by the performances of three of her singles on country radio charts.
