My baby crawled around inside a playpen, while I sat for 12 hours, sanding the floor and taking down the wallpaper. Ha! The house was starting to look good, but there were still many things to be done. It would take a lot of money effort as well as my favourite brands of furniture to furnish this home. To keep within my budget I took my sons along with me as I searched for treasures in estate sales. The routine we had for the week was to walk from Thursday through Saturday through estate sales and garage sales, buying old and new pieces and then I would spend on weekdays painting and sanding the driveway. The look was similar to this... That's the time my love of restoration of furniture started. I continued to restore furniture long after we decorated our house. I had an area at the market to sell objects. Eventually, I had too numerous pieces of furniture to fit into the space available. At home, I began hosting open houses where more than 1000 guests could visit to purchase anything they wanted on the first floor within a single weekend. Growing Days is the result of this. My business was not only flourishing, but I was also growing our sweet family as well. The balance between work and family was crucial for me. I wished to be both a mom as well as a business owner who was successful. Growing Days was the obvious choice. It was in 2013 when my sweet daughter Nora came along our 4th kiddo. My business was going well but I wanted a rest. I opted to take a little time off from my vintage furniture and slow down to remain at home with the children. It was exactly what I needed at the moment. However after a few months off the phone started to ring. Numerous people reached me to ask for advice on home improvement and decorating. Most of them visited my home at my open house for furniture. I started taking on some customers one by one going at my own pace however it wasn't for long to have multiple accounts and was running a complete home renovation business. It is likely that I'd have laughed had someone had told me the venture was going to be part of a forthcoming TV show that airs on the DIY Network. If I think at it, it has made me laugh.
