April Lockhart

April Lockhart (born July 4, 1995) started her journey in music at the age of 7 when she took piano and guitar classes. When she was in seventh grade she began to take guitar and piano classes. This ignited her interest to write songs. She spent a lot of the time of 14 writing songs and practicing the piano. Soon after she began taking trips to write with her father in NY in New York and LA. April was also able to add other themes in the track "Take My Hand" for some of acquaintances who faced concerns like peer pressure disabilities, and even teenage suicide. Lockhart has her own following and is a lifestyle blogger with the popular Ilia the Clean Beauty brand. She was born with no left hand, and it makes her unique. However, this isn't the only thing about her. Lockhart's profile on Twitter doesn't conceal her status as disabled however, it doesn't make a point of it. The message? It is important to remember that everyone has many faces, our identities are varied and we are much beyond our body. Lockhart has stated on video that she doesn't wish to be defined solely by her physical disability. She doesn't wish to become a disability advocate who only talks about that. There are a variety of aspects to Lockhart. But it does not affect my everyday life. I do the things I normally would and I've adapted to my disabilities. It's also a part of my life, and I think that it is something to be talked about. The journey of self-acceptance that Lockhart has taken is one that will last a lifetime, but she is an inspiration in this regard. Still, she admits that she went through a series of phases with her physique, feeling uneasy in some instances to wear clothing that displayed her arms. Now, though she dons whatever she wants and posts images of her outfits to social networks with a sense of pride. It's all a process is what I'm not certain that you ever arrive she says about self-love. This is a process, and I'm not sure you'll ever reach your destination. I think it's important to surround yourself with people who can discern and understand your heart.
